Back in 2003 my beautiful girl was diagnosed with Leukemia. Our world was turned upside down. If not for the love and support we found at Camp Sunshine I’m not sure how we would’ve gotten through it all. Katie is a vivacious 19 year old now, but we still think about how chemo is hell, and all the kids battling cancer and life threatening illnesses right now. We also keep in our hearts all the kids who lost their battle. When we think of Camp Sunshine we think of how it feels to walk through the yellow doors, and the volunteers in the yellow shirts who welcome us with open arms and make us feel like everything is going to be ok. We want to make sure every family has an opportunity to get this much needed support. In Katie's words: "Camp Sunshine is the place where we became happy and hopeful again. From the second my family arrives to the minute we leave we have smiles on our faces and never stop laughing and having a good time. It's a place where you can talk about your problems but have fun and smile while doing so. You can take a deep breath and fall if you need to and know that someone is there to catch you" We run this race in honor of all the Camp Sunshine heroes. Every donation, big or small, helps send a family to camp. Please help us support Camp Sunshine!
