It's hard to imagine that billions of animals will never feel the sun's warmth on their backs or take a step onto grass. They will pass through this life suffering and unloved.
Thanks to Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, this isn't the case for the hundreds of animals that pass through their gate.
A 400 acre non-profit sanctuary for rescued animals, Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, is located in Poolesville, Maryland.
For decades they have provided a loving home for countless animals who were saved from terrible conditions, including:
- A baby piglet found freezing out along a road in the middle of the East coast's largest blizzards in years
- A baby goat named Evie whose owners wanted to shoot because she had to have a leg amputated
- Former race horses who were saved from being sold at a horsemeat auction
- Jason, a lucky steer who was rescued when the double decker tractor trailer he was traveling in rolled over, crushing over 100 other animals. Jason was on the top level and able to escape
Without Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, it's unlikely these animals would have been saved. They would have never known human kindness or love.
To provide food, shelter, care, and permanent sanctuary to over 200 animals, Poplar relies solely on donations.
Please join my run / walk team or make a donation to ensure that more animals can be rescued. And your donation will also change people's minds and hearts about animals. So many people have visited the sanctuary, met the remarkable animals, and left with a pledge to leave all animals off their plates.
