We've reached our goal

BENEFITING: US Association for UNHCR
EVENT DATE: Oct 01, 2016
The refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East is weighs heavy on me. My heart is torn for these people and I want to do something to help.
So I set up this campaign to raise money for the UN Refugee Agency, which works to safe guard the safety and well-being of refugees seeking asylum in another country.
On Saturday March 12, 2016 I embarked on a quest to obtain Knighthood in the cycling land of Sufferlandria. This entailed cycling indoors on a trainer to 10 approved Sufferfest videos and took just under 11 hours to complete (http://thesufferfest.com/pages/knights-of-sufferlandria). I raised $175 for the UN Refugee Agency during this quest. As great as this is, my goal is $1,000 so I am extending my fundraising campaign through my Ironman training and race day. An Ironman triathlon consists of swimming in open water for 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles, and running 26.2 miles. My Ironman is Ironman Maryland and is on October 1, 2016.
The cyclists who use Sufferfest videos often say we "suffer" as we cycle our way through the videos. Endurance athletes spend hours on end swimming, cycling and running for the pleasure and reward that comes from digging deep and discovering what you're really made of.
But here's the distinction, our suffering is elective and reflective of the freedoms and luxuries we enjoy as citizens of free, secure, and democratic countries. My hope is that through my quest for Knighthood and my Ironman journey I can help to alleviate true hardships and suffering of refugees.
Therefore I am asking you my friends if you would considering donating to this cause. Donations of all amounts are greatly appreciated. Knowing there are other people out there who donated to this cause will also keep me going in the hardest times of my training and racing. I know I will keep pressing on because I can't let you down or the refugees you're supporting down. Please join me in supporting this cause that through my "suffering" we can work together to help others suffering in foreign lands find safety, security, and the resources they need to rebuild their lives.
