BENEFITING: American Cancer Society Divisions, Inc.
EVENT: Eugene Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2013
As I train for this marathon, I'm inspired by the family (3 grandparents, 4 aunts and uncles) and friends (2) I've lost to cancer, and those who have fought cancer and are still here (2 that I know of, although there are probably more). When I'm tired on a long run, I think of how tired they were after rounds of chemo; when I feel like taking a day off, I think of how much they wanted to give up but didn't. I want more cancer survivors in my future and I want my kids to know more cancer survivors than lost ones.
I've set up a fundraising goal of $500 to raise for the American Cancer Society. Please donate between now and April 28, 2013, the day I'll be running 26.2 miles in the Eugene Marathon in Eugene Oregon (think about that the next time you are in your car...set your trip odometer to 0 and drive for 26.2 miles. I'll be running that far. In one day. All at once. On pavement. By myself...and a few hundred other like-minded-crazy folks.)
I chose the American Cancer Society because they spend millions of dollars to research cancer causes and treatments, and they offer very good support systems for those fighting cancer and their families. They are also offer education about cancer prevention and treatments, and I'm all for more education. Thanks, in advance, for your donation.
PS...if you donate, send me your address if I don't have it already. I believe in old fashioned thank you cards for those who make a difference.
