BENEFITING: SHELTER BOX USA
Why shelter? Having lost their homes, Filipinos displaced by Super Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan have no protection from the elements. Many relief orgs already focus on the essentials such as food, water, and medicine. Shelterbox builds TENTS and gives survivors a BOX full of necessities to survive while they rebuild. It's outside-of-the-box thinking: the survivors have lost loved ones, as well as their privacy. Let's give them back their dignity while they grieve, heal, and rebuild. Let's give them SHELTERBOX.
Shelterbox is already in the region hit by the typhoon. They have been deployed since the earthquake in October.
On November 23, 2013, Filipino American writers in New York City will hold a fundraising benefit for survivors and victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan. It will be held at The Asian American Writers Workshop 110-112 West 27th Street, Suite 600, between 6th and 7th Avenues.
