Earlier this year our daughter, Kayla, was diagnosed with a rare condition called gastroparesis. This paralysis of the stomach was brought on by a stomach virus and has caused her to be unable to eat since April 21st. She currently receives her nutrition through two feeding tubes. Many other people suffer with this condition and other GI motility disorders, which are called the "invisible sickness" since there is no visible evidence of the problem. I am running to support a non-profit called G-Pact, a 501-c-3 which advocates for cures and treatments.
I originally began running longer distances as a stress release over the last few months of this journey and then decided to run a marathon. One thing is certain; the last few months have emphasized the fact that our strength and health are gifts from our Creator, Jesus Christ. His grace has sustained Kayla, Kathryn and me through this trial and to Him belong all of the honor and glory! Ephesians 1:6
