Back in early 2012 I entered myself into the first Born This Way Foundation poster contest. My picture ended up being in the top ten finalists, and then won the contest altogether. The picture was very personal to me- it represented a lot of struggles that my best friend had been having with his personal life. I put myself out there so others struggling like him would know that they are not alone.
Choosing to run the NYC Marathon with the Born This Way Foundation has already proven to be diffcult- it tests my patience and motivation every single day. I am with the foundation because I believe in everything that it stands for. I believe that every person deserves a chance to be happy and a chance to get help when they need it. I'm running for all of the people that need a little more acceptance in their lives.
The Born This Way Foundation helps adolescents all around the nation to get help and share their stories; to know they are not alone. I am so psyched to be involved in their movement towards a kinder and braver world.
