EVENT DATE: May 03, 2015
We'd love to introduce (or re-introduce) you to two organizations that inspire us and give us hope that the world can be better. Let us tell you about them:
Training for Change and its network of trainers have supported both of us behind the scenes, giving us the skills to be better organizers and trainers (and becoming some of our closest friends). For over 20 years, TFC has been providing training to thousands of activists around the world. They specifically focus on bringing their style of direct education training to communities of color and working class communities who are organizing to shift the balance of power in the country away from those with power and to everyday people.
Bread & Roses Community Fund funds dozens of organizations in Philadelphia that are working to create change in the city. Their motto is "change, not charity", and they fund groups that are doing social change work through direct action campaigns and community organizing. Max serves on their community grantmaking committee, and through that, has learned about all the amazing ways Bread & Roses supports activism in Philadelphia -- and all the ways they could support important activism if they had more funding.
