BENEFITING: The Boot Campaign
I am a nurse, Army Officer, triathlon coach, athlete, daughter, sister and friend.
In 2006 I competed in my first triathlon and fell in love with the sport.
In 2012 I was commissioned in the Army Nurse Corps as an 1L.
In 2013, I decided to combine the love of triathlon with giving back to my country. I was introduced to the non-profit The Boot Campaign and love what they stand for. The Boot Campaign encourages everyone to "get their boots on" to show appreciation for troops and to raise funds for military programs to meet the physical and emotional needs of the soldiers when they return home.
Katie's Race Schedule in Her Boots:
August 4, 2013: 70.3 Steelhead
October 27, 2013: Marine Corps Marathon
Other races may be added to the schedule. Check back for updates.
More information on The Boot Campaign:
Boot Campaign: is dedicated to showing tangible appreciation of our active military, raising awareness of the challenges they face upon return and supporting their transition home. Through the sale of its signature military combat boots, general public donations, and corporate sponsorship, the Boot Campaign operates five distinct programs -- Jobs, Housing, Family Support, Urgent Assistance and Wellness-- that are caring for military personnel, past and present, healing from a variety of physical and emotional combat wounds, embodying the campaign motto that, “When They Come Back, We Give Back”. www.bootcampaign.com
