BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
My pops had an epic moustache. He rocked it before it became the cool thing to do an a long weekend. He passed away on August 6th, 2011, after a year-long battle with bladder cancer. For each year since his passing, I've held "Moustache Week". Friends and family have been encouraged to grow a moustache (or put on a fake one) and post a picture on my Facebook page. At the end of the week, the best was chosen and the wearer was awarded a certificate.
In 2012, I called it the Kevin D. McMahon Memorial Moustache Week, and awarded a certificate to the winner.
In 2013, the name was changed to the Moustaches of Hope Best Moustache Award, and a trophy was given to the winners in the male and female category. I also made it a goal to add a fundraiser to the event the following year.
In 2014, the Award will be called The Moustaches of Hope Golden Moustache Award and 2 trophies will be awarded to the male and female with the best moustaches. I also made a website dedicated to this fundraiser, cancer awareness, and of course my dad. Visit www.moustachesofhope.com to view more of our story and thank you for visiting.
