The staff's devotion to these children is amazing, and the teachers seem to know every last detail about each of their students no matter how complex their disabilities may be. During MA school vacation weeks the Kennedy Day School offers recreation days so that students can continue coming in every day. This allows parents to continue working during the week and gives the children a fun and productive way to spend their vacations. These recreation days are more relaxed and "fun-focused" than normal school days, but they still provide a sense of structure and daily routine for the students. Each recreation day costs $100 per student, separate from normal tuition fees.
This semester Boston College nursing students are raising money to help sponsor these recreation days for families who need support getting their children there! Thank you for taking the time to consider donating to this great cause, every last dollar helps!!!
Every semester Boston College nursing students observe and help the school nurses care for these students as a clinical rotation. I have been lucky enough to have had this experience during my final semester at BC, and it has been an eye-opening, humbling, and heartwarming ride. I am constantly amazed by the students, making progress every day in and out the classrooms. The sense of joy is palpable throughout the hallways and in the school's 14 classrooms, where students are given focused attention while working on "communication, mobility and motor control, vision, hearing, feeding, cognition, social development, and fragile health."
