KEEN St. Louis' Macy's Shop for a Cause Campaign
July 06, 2017
Every kid loves to play, but not every child is able to… at least not the way most kids can. With local financial support and grass-roots volunteer commitment, St. Louis area children with all levels and severity of disabilities can benefit from KEEN St. Louis’ unique approach to play and sports- all free of charge to families and caregivers. KEEN Sports is the most common starting point for all new KEEN athletes. KEEN Sports provides a weekend afternoon of fun and exercise for children ages 5-21. KEEN “athletes” and KEEN volunteer “coaches” are paired up one-to-one for individual and group activities, such as shooting a basketball, kicking a soccer ball, riding a bike or walking around a track. Many KEEN athletes love to bounce on the giant physio balls or to be pulled along the gym floor on a scooter. KEEN Sports sessions are a great way to provide athletic and physical opportunities to kids who are often excluded in traditional settings. KEEN Swims is our most sought-after program. Our swim program allows athletes and their coaches to engage in fun, physical water activity beloved by most children. Among large, inflatable pool toys, KEEN athletes of all ages and their volunteer coaches have a blast in the pool, building self-esteem and confidence while engaging in important physical activity. KEEN Sings is our third and newest program. Kids and teens sing, dance and play musical instruments in this unique program facilitated by a musician and musical student leaders. Through a variety of activities and with assistance from their coaches, KEEN kids tap into the artists inside of themselves.
Your help is needed to continue these amazing programs for our KEEN athletes. No child or family is ever charged for play and recreation at KEEN St. Louis. We count on generous community donors and supporters to keep our progams free for any child who wants to play and socialize and just be a kid- regardless of their level or severity of disability.
