How I am feeling with 12 weeks to go...
August 11, 2016
BENEFITING: Keep a Child Alive
ORGANIZER: Keep a Child Alive
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Last year, something happened. I thought I was invincible, but then I got sidetracked. I was limping for 3 weeks. It turns out I had a femoral neck stress fracture and as my doc said, my leg was "ratchet."
Of course this happened. I was pushing 30. And we all know that is where everything ends. Right?
While I stopped running for a while, I didn't stop my life. I continued to sing karaoke, hike, and cereal shop (see pictures).
It turns out it was poor running form over the last 15 years that did me in. I thought distance running may be a thing of my past. But I had a goal this year: #BeAmazingat30. So I needed to stick with it. I've been working with a physical therapist and running coach to correct my form, and it's starting to feel like my 6 months off were actually one incredible taper.
So as I celebrate 30 this year (May 4th), I hope you'll support me in learning how to run again by donating to my favorite charity, Keep a Child Alive. I'll personally make sure that 100% of your gift goes toward providing comprehensive HIV care to children and families affected by HIV in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, and India.
Thanks for helping me #BeAmazingat30 and for being #CommittedtotheEnd.
