On March 5, 2012, my birthday, I challenged myself to climb the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Since I can't afford a trip to Dubai right now, I'll be doing it on a StairMaster at my gym, where I'll complete an equivalent number of stories - 163. That's right, the Burj Khalifa is 163-freakin-stories tall, and I'll be climbing each and every one of them on a StairMaster at Crunch Burbank on 4/21/12.
My dear friends Matthew and Maggie pledged $25 bucks apiece to the charity of my choice if I completed my goal, and I thought other people might be interested in raising money as well, so I'm opening it up to everyone.
The charity that will benefit is the Whaley's Children Center in Flint, Michigan. Whaley is an amazing organization that's near and dear to my heart. They are a private agency that has a tradition of caring for children and families in crisis. They provide a continuum of services to meet the social, emotional, ethical and academic needs of children and families, and encourage children and family relationships through support service, community education and advocacy. Check them out at www.whaleychildren.org
My goal is to raise $815 for Whaley - that's $5 for every floor in the Burj Khalifa. Can you support my goal to make it to the top? Can you donate $10 (the Crowdrise minimum), and get me 2 floors closer? Or perhaps $20 or $30, which will get me, respectively, 4 or 6 floors closer to the top?
Every bit helps. And you're helping children. Sheesh - that's reason enough to give!
Thank you so much!
Keep it up, David!
