Help keep my mom at home
Organized by: Amy Bardell
Like most people, I think my mom is invincible. But as she gets older I can see that invincibility wearing off. She's been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and is in the early stages of lupus. For a woman who primarily works with her hands, this isn't a great combination. She had a subcontract to do from home that was planned to last for 8 more years, but that contract got phased out. Now she's left to find a new way to make her mortgage payment and pay for her medical bills and insurance. She's an incredibly talented crafter so I'm hoping this goal will give her a few months to start her business and get her footing back without sacrificing her health. She tried to go back to retail where she has spent most of her career, but long days on her feet leave her feeling sick and in pain. I know with a little help from me and those willing to help she can make it to a stable place financially and medically that she is in control of. I'm doing what I can to help her financially by paying what bills I can for her, but it isn't enough.
