keep people smiling
Organized by: Michael Wells
Everyone knows that in today's economy it is tough to cover procedures that are not covered by insurance companies, In fact the insurance offered isn't even accepted by the oral surgeons within this state, which is ridiculous but is a true fact. And the insurance company's deductible is an astronomical amount as well .unfortunately we find ourselves caught up in this dilemma. My wife Robin is a Breast cancer survivor. She has undergone chemo and so far 7 surgeries already. Unfortunately she has one more to fix an incorrect implant. Now she is experiencing a lot of health issues that we are taking care of one by one. She has very low vitamin D, pre-diabetic, high blood pressure and very painful legs that keep her from working. The one of the most important and very painful medical problem she is facing is her smile. Robin has a unique and beautiful personality that everyone loves. She can instantly bring a smile to anyone’s face. She loves to make people laugh and smile but lately she hasn’t been doing that. Her teeth and gums are very painful and sensitive. She has a hard time chewing and eating her favorite foods and certain drinks cause pain. Chemo has taken everything from her including her immune system, hair, self-esteem and now her smile. Our medical covers all her medical expenses except dental. We have no dental insurance at all. We have checked on plans but, we would have to wait a year before we can get what she needs done. I am working and going to school and just can’t afford all of it at this time. I am asking for any help I can possibly get to help my wife out. She has an abscess tooth, bone deterioration, receding gums and gum disease. Her gums are always getting infected from this. She has dentures on the top but she needs new ones, since those are 24 years old. She needs to have the bottom done. What needs to be done is: 9 teeth extracted which is $165 each tooth, Alveoloplasty which is $150, bottom denture $1,395, top denture $1,395 and 6 month reline $395. After 6 months she needs to have implants put in which requires 4 screws $800 each screw and 4 ring attachments for the screws $195. I am trying to raise $5,000 so she can at least get her teeth pulled and both dentures for now and pain medication. Both dentures have to be done at the same time so that the bite is correct. We will worry about the implants after. I just want to get her started for now to relieve the pain and infection so it doesn’t cause more complications. I am not usually the one to ask for help but this is about my wife’s health and I am asking anyone and everyone for any help they can give. Please help me give my wife her smile back. Any help is so greatly appreciated!
