Keep Teachers in the Classroom

December 22 Update
December 22, 2016
I'm a teacher, and not long ago I suffered a stroke in the classroom. I realized that a lot of teachers encountered uncontrollable expenses that contributed to them having to leave the profession. I decided to be part of the solution but I wanted to create something that would continue to work longer than a single donation. So I am starting a trust fund to help keep teachers in the classroom. Every year we lose a lot of young, promising teachers who just get overwhelmed with the financial situation
I am asking you provide a donation which will be put into a trust fund to raise money to help teachers keep teaching. All donations will be designated as principal, and will remain part of the fund, not to be spent. All benefits will be paid out of the earnings of the fund. With this arrangement, your donation will continue to work for this cause for years to come.
I have set an initial goal of $10,000 here. If we are successful raising that, I will raise the goal. Since our true goal is to help as many teachers as possible, more money donated (principal) results in more money earned, and more help to teachers. There is no upper limit in our desire to help!
We wil be applying for "non-profit corporation" status and apply for tax-exempt status for the fund so that more of the earnings will go to teachers. Donations to help with those administrative costs are appreciated, but all non-designated funds will go into the trust. I reiterate, the gift you give today will continue to give over the years.
And this is a pledge to you...this is a one-time request. If you give, you will not be asked to give again. (We will accept more, but we won't ask for it!) This isn't one of the wonderful charities that ask for monthly commitments. We give to some of those, and they are worthwhile. But we will not ask you for more. Please consider that while contemplating a gift. I strongly believe this is a worthwhile project, and will complete my tasks in a totally above-board fashion...including this pledge to you.
Please consider a generous contribution, and share this with your friends?
I am also asking for corporate sponsors to help. Most corporations are good citizens in their communities and support various charities. I am not asking that you reduce any funds you are donating to those organizations...they help so many people. But I would like to ask for a one-time donation to help with our work. We are grateful for all of the support you can give.
