BENEFITING: JUST FOOD OF DOUGLAS COUNTY INC
We asked, and you answered. We sounded an alarm in a time of crisis, and thanks to your outpouring of generosity, we can now satisfy our tax liability. We don’t know the right words to properly tell you how humbled and thrilled and relieved we are by this community’s response to our call. It has overwhelmed us. We called Just Food a gathering point for community spirit, and we said it was too important to fail. The speed at which you came to our side proves that to be true. We cannot say “thank you” enough times for what you have done.
To be clear, Just Food still needs your help. We can put our tax issues behind us, but the need behind our mission has not been abated. So we now fully turn our considerable energy to continuing the operations of Just Food - fighting hunger, fostering and maintaining community relationships and continuing to fight for the dignity and well-being of those in need. Just Food feeds hundreds of people a day – this August alone we served more than 3300 individuals – and serves as the umbrella food bank for our 5 satellite pantries and 29 community partners. We make multiple daily food pickups to dozens of local grocery stores and restaurants, and we are constantly facilitating food drives. We survived this moment, but these operations always need support. In that spirit, we have decided to keep this fundraising site open through the end of the month for those who came here willing to help. And, as always, you can give directly through Just Food’s website at www.justfoodks.org.
What is Just Food? Just Food is an army of dedicated volunteers, dozens of generous community partners, and a few hard-working employees. Just Food is the collection point for community spirit, for the embodiment of the idea that none of our friends or neighbors should be hungry. Just Food is hope, and it’s a reminder that there is somewhere to turn when hope isn’t quite enough. Just Food is exactly as it says it is.
