Keep the South African's Singing
Organized by: Amanda Younger
We are a group of students from Mankato, MN who had the opportunity to study abroad in South Africa for 10 days; the opportunity changed us. One of the experiences we will never forget is the incredible singing. We experienced the contagious joy of over 100 children dancing and singing so loud it made our ears ring. We had never seen such a happy group of children, yet they were unaware if they would get fed that night.
Next we met a group of ladies who volunteer to go into their communities to test individuals for HIV/AIDS. They do not have gloves, hand sanitizer or gowns. The ladies put their own lives at risk to try to save others. Much of our time spent with the ladies included singing, dancing and smiling.
Although there was a language barrier, we were able to use universal languages such as singing and dancing to form relationships with these two amazing groups of individuals. Please help us raise money for both of these groups. We yearn to send hand sanitizer and gloves to the women volunteers and funds to the children's center. Try to buy one less coffee/pop/beer this week. Pack a lunch. And send that $10 you save to us so we can help these amazing individuals! THANK YOU!!! :D
