I live in small town Davenport Iowa, where the violence in our area is spinning out of control. Our youth are dying, being murdered and injured almost every month. Just recently someone close to my heart, Anthony "Marcus" Jones was beaten, shot and killed and left lay in a yard. I knew things were bad, but this made me stand up and say "I have to do something!" I think that violence in humans comes from a form of being misunderstood, misled, and not having a positive outlet for their feelings. It is mine and my partners dream and goal, to start a youth center in our community, where these children and teens can come and feel safe, they can eat there, they can talk, they can have fun and they can be positive. I would like a non profit therapist available for those who need to talk. That will have the tools to link them with the help that they need. I want a modern and fun spot, with television and music. They can come and play sports play games and be active. Id like work out equipment where their anger can be outlet game systems and love exercises as groups. Also I would like to have all of the papers and pamphlets so that they can get jobs, get in school, get medical insurance, assistance and so forth. Our whole idea is to make this a Home away from home. We would greatly appreciate your help in anyway that you can to keep our youth alive and positive. Families and friends are being devastated and torn apart accross my state due to this violence I know we are just a small town and probably a very small blimp on your radar, but if you could find it in your heart to help for this amazing cause. You will not be disappointed. We have to act NOW. It is our children, that are our future. With donations, you will reciece full updates on "My Home Away from Home" Thank you so much.
