I am writing to ask your help for American Red Cross' Shelter Of Hope. My friend Bill Earley, Red Cross CEO and recovering lawyer, will be living in a disaster shelter June 1 through June 7, 2015, traveling throughout San Diego County and popping up in some unexpected places. I'll be accompanying Bill in the disaster shelter on June 5, 2015, in South San Diego County.
I'm trying to help Bill spread the word and remind everyone that the Red Cross is here, providing help and hope every day. The Shelter Of Hope effort is being launched to Help Open People’s Eyes (HOPE) and raise funds for those in need throughout the year. It also brings awareness to the vital services the local Red Cross provides in the community with aid from partners and supporters.
Families need shelter, food, water, first aid and emotional support. They need the American Red Cross. Every 24 hours the Red Cross responds to a house fire or other type of disaster right here in San Diego and Imperial Counties, providing a Shelter Of Hope to a family in crisis. In less than two minutes a house fire can engulf a home leaving a family with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.
When disasters strike, people need help. It takes the whole community to get them back on their feet and the Red Cross wants to continue to work to make that happen quickly. With generous and thoughtful support, the Red Cross is there—neighbors helping neighbors.
The Red Cross depends on the donations it receives to support the many people it helps every day, and that is why I'm asking you to help provide a Shelter Of Hope to our neighbors in crisis.
I'm hoping you will commit to sponsoring me. I've committed to do my best to raise $10,000 for the Red Cross. Please donate whatever you can, no amount is too small. Together, let's provide care and compassion to families in need throughout San Diego.
Help me and Bill get out of the Box!
