BENEFITING: FARM SANCTUARY
EVENT DATE: Jun 14, 2014
On Saturday, June 14th, I will be running the world's first Vegan Power 50K in Pittsfield MA, which will consist of 31 grueling miles over hilly trails. Yes, this sounds crazy but I'm doing it to raise $1,000.00 for FARM SANCTUARY!
WHY FARM SANCTUARY?: Farm Sanctuary is the nation’s largest and most effective farm animal rescue and protection organization. They have rescued thousands of animals and cared for them at their sanctuaries in Watkins Glen, New York; Northern California (Orland); and the Los Angeles area. The sanctuary educates millions of people about the effects of factory farming on our health, the environment and on the animals. The Sanctuary advocate for laws and policies to prevent suffering and promote compassion, and they reach out to legislators and businesses to bring about institutional reforms. For more information, visit http://www.farmsanctuary.org/.
And I will be visiting the Watkins Glen NY Farm Sanctuary and meeting their adorable farm animals in person just two days before my race! I will think of these animals, and the ones that are not as lucky, when my body starts to tire out. For them and for my donors, I will NOT GIVE UP!
