Serving in the Vietnam war in the Navy, my Father Gary F. Bush fought bravely and honorably. Having been removed from his life as a child not by his choice, I reconnected with him after 38 years. I have had the best 6 years getting to know my Dad, my aunts and uncles and my cousins. Last week, right before Thanksgiving, I was given the most devastating news, my dad has lung cancer. It is in stage 3 or 4 but we are depending on the VA doctors for treatment. He barely has enough to get by and I am trying to move him from Alabama to South Carolina but have to wait to see what is going to happen with the Center in Alabama. If I move him, his treatment is delayed. My dad’s story is not done yet. My story with him is not done yet. We are figting this cancer at the mercy of VA hospitals, on social security and a pension that doesn’t even meet poverty level. Please help me fight with my dad!
