Anyone who knows me knows that my number one love in life is being a mom to two beautiful children and a wife to an amazing husband/daddy! When I'm not spending time with my family, you will probably find me doing one of my other passions: working as an RN on an Obstetrics and Nursery unit or running. I got to thinking ..what if I could combine all these amazing things ('momming', maternity care, & running) to help do some GREAT things?? That's when I found out about the non-profit organization of Every Mother Counts [EMC]. EMC is dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere. Through this organization, I am able to use my love for running and maternal care to help raise awareness and funds for mothers around the world to access the healthcare they need. EMC works to address three main barriers to maternal care: lack of transportation, lack of education/training, & lack of essential medicines and supplies. I invite you to visit www.everymothercounts.org to see All the ways this great organization is helping mothers across the world. So what am I exactly doing? I am running for team EMC in the IMT Des Moines Marathon this year on 10/15/2017. This will be my FIRST marathon and I am so excited to run AND to help raise awareness & donations for the mamas! Kindly take a moment and consider donating to this awesome cause to help mothers around the world access essential maternal care. No mother should be without it! ANY amount is greatly appreciated. Let's help reduce the 303,000 women's lives lost each year around the world due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth (that's 1 woman every 2 minutes!).
