BENEFITING: AMMA CENTER OF NEW MEXICO
If you know me, then you know I love Amma, a.k.a. the Hugging Saint. She has inspired millions to live by a creed of selfless service. Amma, which means "mother" in Hindi, has been a spiritual mother to many and has brought hope to those of us who have felt hopeless. Her "children" work to bring food to the hungry, to clean up littered areas, to take in stray animals, to end poverty, care for orphaned children, to plant trees, and to bring relief to disaster areas. (Check out http://amma.org/global-charities)
I'm asking anyone who gives to my personal fundraiser on GoFundMe to also match a donation to the Amma Center of New Mexico, which prepares and delivers sack lunches to hungry people every week. They also host Amma's visit to New Mexico each year (which has been a life-saver for me many times) and do as much as they can to allieviate suffering in the world. The money may also be used for the maintenace of the center itself, also called the ashram. It is a beautiful sacred space!
We can call it a birthday gift, or if you don't want it to be about me, then we can call it "you've just chipped into your own good Karma fund." (If you can only afford to give to one fund, please choose this one!)
If you don't know who I am, but you found this post, felt moved by my plea, and decided to donate to the Amma Center - thank you! You get a gold star!
