BENEFITING: Tada Theatre and Dance Alliance, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
As some of you may know, after a year of completing half marathons and 10Ks, I've automatically qualified to run the 26.2 mile New York City Marathon this fall through New York Road Runners' 9+1 program.
What started as a goal to knock something off of my 'bucket list' has now turned into something much greater, as I will be running my first marathon in honor of my best friend's father, Ken Cohen, who recently passed away.
Ken was an unbelievably amazing man filled with positivity, generosity and warmth, and I personally have been so blessed to have him and the Cohen family in my life. Ken always said how 'impressed' he was with my athletic endeavors, and since he knew of my plan to run the marathon, I can't think of a better way to honor him than to run this race in his memory.
I’m hoping you will help me complete my first marathon and celebrate Ken by making a (tax deductible) donation to TADA! Youth Theatre, which Ken so generously supported. Information on the organization is below.

About TADA! Youth Theatre:
Since 1984, TADA! has been providing young people of all different backgrounds, including a large number of disadvantaged children and families, the opportunity to explore and perform musical theater together in an educational, supportive, and professional environment. Every year, TADA! produces three original musical theater productions with a discounted ticket program; free pre-professional training and youth development opportunities through the Resident Youth Ensemble composed of over 65 NYC kids ages 8-18; renowned Arts Education in-school residencies and after-school programs that are subsidized by our funders; and theater classes for kids of all ages taught by professional teaching artists and for which need-based scholarships are readily available.
TADA!'s mission is two-fold: to provide high-quality musical theater productions performed by talented kids for family audiences and to provide a safe, creative and nurturing place where kids can harness their inherent energy, build their self-assurance and realize their true potential through the unique collaborative art form that is musical theater. Through TADA!'s high-quality work, young people gain confidence and learn commitment, responsibility, communication and teamwork...skills that are critical to their success both in school and in life.
