Ken Levine, from Jamaica Plain, has been doing charity rides since 2000, and has enjoyed riding since he was a kid, when he always had a least one bike. For Ken, the more exotic the biking adventure, the better—he’s ridden through Chiangmai in Thailand, Capetown in South Africa, the Rioja in Northern Spain, the Dordogne in France, and the Gulf and San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest! Next year, he hopes to do a ride in Vietnam or Laos. In fact, in his everyday life, he always seeks opportunities to bike commute and even arranges his life and schedule around it. Due to his love of animals and his first-hand experience of the human-animal bond and being a supporter of HIV prevention, research, and assistance to people living with HIV, participating in Phinney’s Ride was a natural fit for Ken. He is close to his one cat, 20-year-old Tui, named after a New Zealand bird. When he’s not riding, working, or taking care of Tui, Ken loves to kayak, canoe, cook, play scrabble, listen to and write about good music, adventure travel, watch hockey, and be silly!
