BENEFITING: Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York
EVENT DATE: Sep 20, 2015
This year, my family will be walking in memory of my cousin, Jimmy, who died at just 35 years old.
As my older cousin by 9 years, Jimmy was an important person in my life. Since I was little, he showered me and my sisters with gifts, including stuffed animals on Valentine's Day, designer bags, and Mets apparel on our birthdays and graduations. Jimmy loved his family unconditionally and we loved him the same in return. While many people, including myself, felt a responsibility to help care for Jimmy when he was sick and when he needed guidance, he was always a role model to me in the way he cared for all of us. When he told us he was expecting his daughter, we had no doubt he would be amazing father. The love and care he showed to my family, his siblings, and all his other cousins and family was evidence of his huge heart. We were confident he would be a wonderful father and he definitely did not disappoint.
Jimmy was one of the strongest people any of us have ever known. No one should have to be as strong as he was and endure what he did. He took every opportunity to see the good in life and had a great sense of humor. Please support and walk with us as we show others how strong those with epilepsy are and to celebrate Jimmy and the positive mark he has left on all of our lives.
