Hello! I appreciate you for taking the time to check out my fundraising page and showing interest in helping out my medical mission with GSMDM ( I am a second year Biology major at UC Merced and I will be traveling to go to Vietnam to help out the Vietnamese people in Cao Bang this summer. Vietnam, my place of birth, has a special place in my heart. I myself have always envisioned going on a medical mission trip or holding one myself if I am fortunate enough to become a doctor. Coming to America allowed me to experience both worlds. I recognized that in America there are many privileges and opportunities, like great healthcare, that people in Vietnam may not have access to. This strengthened my urge to give back and this medical mission is the perfect opportunity to do so. You also have the opportunity to give back and be part of the mission, by donating! Your donation will be greatly appreciated and can help out many lives in Vietnam. As one team, GSMDM plans to serve numerous people in Vietnam. However, that would require us to have a good amount of money for procedures, like surgery. The more money we have allows us to help more people. Also, the costs of surgery are cheaper in Vietnam compared to the United States. For example, it will cost around $2000-2500 for an open-heart surgery for children in Vietnam compared to an average of $165000 in the United States. Aside from open-heart surgeries, our surgical team will be performing other surgeries with their skills and supplies; there will still be hospital cost. By donating, you will not only be part of the mission, but you are saving lives! Once again, thank you for your interest and support! Your donations will definitely make an impact on the lives of the people in Vietnam.
