Hey, my name is Arieon Moore and I am a senior at Kenwood Academy High School in Chicago, Illinois. While modeling and community service are both my passions, I am most infatuated with travelling. Travelling allows me to discover things about other cultures from a first hand point of view. Being an African-American, young woman, I have been proud of my culture before it became acceptable or a trend in the U.S. I am looking to indulge in black culture and connect with my roots by traveling to Africa, more specifically, Ghana. Living in a nation where there are so many negative connotations attached with Ghana and how the media depicts it to be equivalent to a Third World Country, I am eager to see the richness of the country. Although I do love to travel, I have not been to many places outside of Chicago: with none being outside of the United States. The only reason why I have never travelled out of the country is because I simply cannot afford it. Coming from a single parent household living with two brothers and also being in my senior (most expensive) year in high-school, receiving this scholarship would be the determining factor of me going to Ghana. These donations will help to give myself, and other students, an unforgettable, cultural experience.
