Thanks for visiting our crowdfunding site! We are a group of 5 students, 2 teachers and one mom from Kenwood High School, on Chicago's south side, traveling to the West African country of Ghana this April. The students are very excited to learn about their heritage and culture, and visit Africa for the first time. The trip's itinerary will include volunteering and staying in a small village, working with local community leaders in their schools, gardens and building sites. Village locals will also teach us some traditional arts and music while we stay with them. After out time in the village, will check out the capital city, Accra, and visit Cape Coast Castle, which was built to house West African slaves before being shipped to the Americas, and is now a museum to preserve the history of that horrific time. There are a lot of costs involved in this trip, so any amount you can donate will help us with our travel expenses.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our trip and donate what ever you can!
