Kenya Mission Trip
Organized by: Bethany Peerbolte
EVENT DATE Aug 03, 2016
I will be helping build a church and two school classrooms while in Kenya! I am so excited for this opportunity. The Presbyterian church I work for is sending a crew to work and worship with a Presbyterian church in Kenya. I have always felt a call to go to Africa on a mission trip and am blessed to have God present such a wonderful way to answer that call. So here I am working to find the money so I can check something off my bucket list and answer God's call to fill the world with love.
I appreciate any support you can give. I will need lots of prayers in the coming weeks and especially from August 3rd thru the 18th. If you could please leave an address with your donation I will send you lots of pictures and a short reflection on the trip. If you are unable to donate but would like to support me in prayer email your address to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send you the pictures and reflection too.
The Presbyterian Church in Kenya is growing faster than they can build churches for their congregations. As a way to build relationships and help congregations (currently meeting under trees or in small homes), American congregations are going over to help build churches. The congregation in Kenya pays and builds the foundation and skeletal structure of the building, we then work with the church members to put up the walls, windows, roof, and doors. We also bring over with us a communion set, banners, and pay for benches to be made. The Sunday after our work is finished we will worship with the people and celebrate their new home.
Schools in Kenya are also in need of more space. The second week will be spend adding more rooms to a school house. I can't wait to play and pray with all the kids. We have already collected school supplies and encyclopedias to give them for the coming school year.
