The Story

For over ten years, Kenya Keys has helped provide education for students in one of the poorest districts in Kenya. Through student sponsorship, building libraries, educating students in the U.S. about global issues, and many others, we have joined with these Kenyans to make a meaningful difference in the world.

For two weeks this June, our team of interns will work directly, in person, with these inspiring Kenyans. We are honored to go but we need your help! Please consider donating any amount you can. It is the cumulative effect of many donations that will help us reach our goal so that we can work in the following areas:

Girl Empowerment:  When you educate a girl, you educate a family. Our interns will be working with our Kenyan S.O.S. (Save Our Sisters) girls group. These dedicated young women advocate for and help educate younger girls on issues such as hygiene, the importance of education, job skills, and the strength to become leaders themselves.

Student Sponsorship:  The connection between students and their sponsors is one that lasts a lifetime. Interns will be interviewing current students to make sure their needs are met and that they are on track in fulfilling their educational responsibilities.

Global Classrooms:  Schools in need of basic essentials have been paired with American schools, and the two have become "sister schools." Our team will carry out projects that have been funded in the U.S. as well as bring back pictures, stories, and items to strengthen relationships and educate students in the U.S. on what school is like in other places.

Libraries:  Have you ever considered what your life might be like without access to books? Kenya Keys helps provide not only opportunities to learn, but also the books and libraries themselves. Each intern will be able to deliver books and other supplies to our Kenyan schools and communities.

Art Exchange:  After creatively and diligently raising funds to build an addition onto one of our schools in Kenya, students from River Grove Elementary School will be making art to permanently hang in the Kenyan school. Our interns will also be creating art with Kenyan students to hang in the elementary school in the U.S. Funds raised will help purchase necessary supplies so that we can create a long-lasting work of art that will remind us that friendship is not deterred by distance.
