Food, shelter and clothing are normally considered the basic necessities of life. However, in my opinion, education trumps them all because a person who is educated could use it as a tool to provide oneself those basic necessities, and much more. We have all been fortunate to make it this far in our lives, thanks to all the support we received from our parents, teachers and guides towards education. No matter what our social status had been during our early years, hindsight will tell us that education has been an important ingredient in the recipe of our current standing and success in life. It is painful to see that this fortune is either unavailable or not extended to all in our community. VIBHA is one of those few organizations that I have seen working tirelessly in providing education (among a host of other causes) to underprivileged children. A first time marathoner (through the persistence of my wife, Divya Keshav), all my exertions over the weeks of training culminating in this marathon would be worth the while if even a small percentage of my efforts help in giving these children something to look forward to, something to make of their lives, through education. A positive difference is what I seek to make in the lives of these children. I look forward to your moral and financial support in helping me cross the finish line at this marathon (hopefully there will be many more to come), and helping the children navigate their way through the vagaries of life using education as their 'Mariner's Compass'.
