I have been training and doing tris for almost a decade. I really race to train rather than train to race. I love to get up first thing in the morning and go for a run or bike to work. No greater way than to start the day crossing the GWB before the break of day and see the city. It really is an amazing feeling. I think those last 8 or so miles are always my fastest since that sight always seems to recharge my battery. I am excited to be participating in Ironman NYC. It will be great to race an ironman on "home" turf and even better to be raising money for such a great charity like Robin Hood. That in and of itself helps to absolve the guilt you feel in participating in such a selfish endeavor as your family, no matter how early I get up to train, tends to suffer the repercussions of your training.
By the way, please no expectations of winning this one. I am 8 years older and I'm just hoping to finish this time. :)
