Charles SAYS:
To all donors to the Shawn T…
To all donors to the Shawn Thornton Foundation in support of my 2014 Boston Marathon Run, I am truly humbled and honored to have participated in this event, and I thank you so much for your support.

I do apologize, I never realized this webpage allowed me to send updates until all donors, or else I would have send out some progress reports along the way.

Belonging to a charity team of runners really made a big difference in my preparations for the race, I made some early morning Saturday trips up to Boston, met some inspiring people, and was able to hear stories about why people were moved to run Boston. In early April, Shawn Thornton brought his marathon team to a Bruins game, and we had a chance to meet him. I can say from first hand experience that he cares deeply about this foundation and
its impact on the community.

Marathon day itself was incredible. I have done this race four times before, and I don't plan on doing it again. I chose not to wear a watch, and decided to enjoy the atmosphere as much as possible, and interact with the amazing, amazing crowds. It was genuinely fun. Yes, it was hard near the end, but it was very helpful to think of the support I have received from you, and I did not stop running except for a few water stops and one time trying to work out a cramp. Oh yeah, and that epic hug and photo with Kathy Ahern...

I finished in 4 hours, 18 minutes, 18 seconds and am very proud to have played a part in taking the Boston Marathon back.

I thank you so much. It is because of YOU that I had this opportunity. There was a minimum fundraising number in order to be considered and selected and YOU made it happen. Maybe you were inspired to donate in the memory of Chris Larson, or Judy Franklin, or one of the many, many others affected by cancer and Parkinson's disease. Maybe it was because you love the Boston Marathon. Maybe it is because you love Boston, or love the USA. If what I have done has inspired you in some small way, please know that you are the ones who have inspired me. I was not running alone.

WE = YOU and ME and ALL OF THE DONORS.
WE ARE A TEAM.
WE RUN TOGETHER.
WE RUN BOSTON STRONG.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
