KEVIN ROHAN MEMORIAL ECO-FOU...

Our Mission

Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser.

The Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation (KRMEF) was established in 2008 near Khokana, in the southwest of the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. We built the foundation of the community with the following values: respect, integrity, dignity, productivity, trust, and inclusiveness. From there we applied a number of innovative and environmentally aligned practices into our daily living and have attracted a local and international community excited to work and prosper together. We believe everyone has something to offer. Creativity and participation make the community thrive. Our hope is to demonstrate a fundamental kinship with the environment and with each other to offer an inspirational living model to anyone wishing for a healthy and balanced existence.

TIPS TO ORGANIZE A FUNDRAISER:

Organize a fundraising event to support our efforts and have fun while doing it!

Organizing a fundraiser is not as complicated as it sounds, and to help you out, we have compiled a list of tips and steps to throw a successful event.

Step 1: Identify your team and resources. Will you have many friends helping you out? Do you have any special skills in your team (like awesome baking abilities, expert chili cooks or carwashing superpowers)? What is your budget? Do you have a lot of labor but little money, or do you have little labor but a lot of money?

Step 2: Choose your fundraiser! Now that you know your team and resources, brainstorm ideas on what you can do. You can also look around for previous fundraisers in your community for ideas on what has been successful. Here is a link to a page with many fundraising event ideas, but do not be afraid to be creative and come up with something else.

Step 3: Set a fundraising goal. Taking into account your budget and the estimated cost of the event (refreshments, advertising, decorations, etc.), figure out your fundraising goal. Keep operating costs low to be able to fundraise more! You can also look for seed money from businesses or even in-kind donations of food and drink in exchange for advertisement.

Step 3: Let us know! Contact KRMEF to see if there is anything we can do to help you out, tell us your plans. We are very grateful you are doing this for us, so we’d be more than glad to help you help us.

Step 4: Choose a date and time. Set a date far enough in advance to give you time to prepare and time for the attendees to mark their calendars. Keep an eye on the calendar for conflicting or complementing days (you might not want to do it when everyone if out of town, but maybe doing it during World Leprosy Day could help). Also, keeping in mind your team and resources, think about available and low cost locations (the team’s garage, pool, your school, the community center, etc.)

Step 5: Delegate and organize. Utilize your friend’s expertise and connections to figure out who will be in charge of what. And do not forget to keep track of your progress.

Step 6: ADVERTISE! Get the word out; use good old fashion invitations and posters; make a Facebook event; diffuse on twitter; tell your friends to tell their friends; and of course, use this wonderful site! Let people know why this is an important cause to you ; show them why you need their support. Lastly, do not forget: this is a FUNdraiser, enjoy!
