In October of 2013, our world was turned upside down. We found out that not only did Kevon have a very aggressive type of brain cancer (only 2% survive), but because of where it was located, it couldn't be completely removed.
Kevon's body had been devastated by the tumor. He lost all control of his body. It was like having a newborn the size of a 15 year old. He had to have a tracheostomy and a G-tube placed because he didn't have a gag reflex.
He was hospitalized for a little over 4 months. He received radiation therapy for 6 weeks everyday. He worked so hard at rehab! By the time we went home in February of 2014, he was working on walking with a walker and learning to talk and eat. I was so proud of how brave and strong my son was!
Kevon started chemotherapy in January of 2014 and continued until December of 2014. During the midst of chemotherapy and going to school for 3 hours a day, his insurance company decided to stop paying for his therapy. They stated that he was not progressing and that they didn't pay for "maintenance" therapy. Kevon needs his therapy!
So, this fundraiser will go towards helping to fund any non covered medical and transportation needs.
As a single mother, it's very hard to ask for help. I have decided that I need to swallow my pride and do what needs to be done to help my son. Thank you for any help you can give.
On May 19th, Kevon had an MRI because of head and neck pain. When the oncologist called, she said there were 2 areas of "concern ". We don't know if it's from the radiation or new cancer. If this is cancer, we have another fight ahead of us. Please send prayers and positive thoughts!!!!!!
