BENEFITING: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
EVENT: Team HITW NYC Marathon 2015
EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2015
My relationship with the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp goes back to the camp's infancy in the late 1980s when a family friend was one of the first campers. Growing up in CT, I also often heard about this amazing camp Paul Newman was building, and years later, I'm lucky enough to work at Newman's Own Foundation and be able to support and have a relationship with the amazing Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and entire network of camps around the world. I'm lucky to have the opportunity to visit the camp and volunteer with my colleagues at Newman's Own. And I'm lucky to have had had the chance to meet Paul Newman once at the camp before I ever worked for Newman's Own, and tell him that my good family friend who was once a camper, had not only beaten her disease, but gone on to become a doctor and a mom. The camp has both personal and professional meaning for me - it's a truly magical place where sick kids, often spending months out of the year in a hospital, just get to be kids for a week. It changes their lives in so many ways, and that's why I need to rock this NYC marathon for HITW!
