In 2009 I embarked on a journey which took me to a magical village, Khijee, just 20 miles from Mount Everest base camp. I called Khijee my home for 4 months. Everyone in the village was extremely poor, yet were the most generous people I've ever met. I couldn't tell someone I liked their t-shirt because they would try to give it to me. I couldn't tell anyone I was hungry, because they would drag me in their house and feed me. One guy lived in a village 3 hours away wanted his wife to cook a meal for me. He woke up at 5am, walked 3 hours to meet me, then we walked 3 hours back to his village. After I met his village and his wife cooked for me, he walked me 3 hours back to my house and turned around and walked 3 hours home. That's 12 hours of walking! He then showed up at my door the next week to see if I wanted to go to his village again.
Now they need our help to rebuild from this devastating earthquake. 100% of all donations will go to disater relief in Khijee and rebuilding houses.
