We want to help a group of women in a township in South Africa learn to quilt and do various other textile arts to help them begin to have an income. We visited their township almost 2 years ago and worked through a small Church whose building was a corrugated tin building. The unemployment is approximately 50% and it is hard to find work. Three women were found to help teach and now they need money to help with supplies. The women have been learning how to do work by hand since there is no electricity in the township yet. Another need is to help the women have transportation into town where they can work in a space with electric sewing machines. My hope is that these women will be able to earn money through making quilts and other fabric items to help support their families.
