Khristinas mattress after 3rd back surgery. 25 years old!
Organized by: Khristina Barbee
I just came home from Wake Forest Baptist Health after having my 3rd back surgery (spinal fusion). I was diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome in 2012. I was paralyzed for two months and had to relearn how to walk. I was deemed handicapped and was put on the lowest amount of SSI income sense I was 21 at the time. I suffer from partial paralysis and chronic lower back and leg pain. (Never take using the bathroom for granted) I have NEVER in my life asked for a handout but I have been sleeping on a 25 year old mattres for as long as I can remember. Last night was the first night I slept in that bed and it was my first night home from the hospital. It has absolutely killed my back all day today. I would be able to finance one but I draw disability and that doesn't go far with a one year old and necessary medical equiptment, caths, back brace, walker. I know mattresses cost much more but with the fees taken out it should cover a decent one to last for the next 10 years. God bless you all. And thank you in advance.
