In the spring of 2013, members of the Chambersburg Trojans girls soccer team created the Trojans Outreach Project. The Project started by working with local youth soccer teams from local elementary rec league teams, AYSO and the Chambersburg area travel team in an effort to teach basic soccer fundamentals and be positive role models. In addition it was meant to teach the players from the Trojans soccer team the value of community service and volunteering.
After working with over 20 teams and 230 children during the spring of 2013, the participating members of the T.O.P noticed a need existed for many of the teams and children in the terms of the equipment they had or lacked. Balls were flat, torn or there simply wasn't enough for the players. Some children lacked proper footwear. Several members of the team started to kick around ideas on how they could help the children and teams they worked with. Many of the local elementary teams are funded solely by the school's PTO. Some lack a PTO entirely or they lack the funds necessary to support these important programs.
During an Outreach event this spring, one of the youth coaches mentioned that many of the children didn't have shinguards...an absolute necessity for a soccer player.....Trojan Outreach members put their money together and were able to purchase and donate 90 pairs of shinguards for that school and any child that needed them. This event has inspired the members of the Outreach Project to think bigger and try to help as many children as possible. The KICKitFORWARD campaign is an effort to raise funds to be used solely for the purpose of providing equipment and assistance to teams and children that need them, including soccer balls, soccer cleats, shinguards, or other soccer related items.
We are hoping you can help us help these players. Thank you for supporting our cause!
