EVENT DATE Sep 06, 2014
As many of you know, our mom was diagnosed with Metastatic Bi-Lateral Breast Cancer in April of this year. She’s getting wonderful treatment through Crystal Run Healthcare and already 8 weeks through a 24 week chemo treatment cycle.
Obviously, this has affected us greatly and not ones to sit idle we decided to turn our sadness, grief and anxiety into something positive and help support Mom through this time. One of the wonderful women I work with, 69 year old Barbara Harrison, applied to and was accepted to run the New York City Marathon on November 2nd, 2014 on the Catholic Charities team. The only reason Barbara applied to the team was to run in our Mother’s name. She truly feels that being almost the same age as our Mom that she wanted to do something that was a challenge to her as Mom moves through her challenges. We’re SO touched by her gracious offer and thrilled to support her without trying to figure out why someone would voluntarily run 26.1 miles without being chased by someone! To support Mom and Barbara’s effort on her behalf, we are holding our first annual Kick Out Cancer 2014 Kickball Tournament.
The Tournament highlights:
The Tournament will be held at Craigville Park in Goshen, NY 8:00am on Saturday, September 6th, 2014.
You can create and submit your own team if you’d like or you can join one of the three teams Leigh, Matthew and I are fielding. Our teams are:
Michele: Save Second Base
Leigh: Rack Attack
Matthew: Double D’s
Each team will have 12 players. It’s a round robin tournament.
The Cost is $300 for a Team Registration and $25 to play. To come and cheer it’s a $10 donation.
Registration is 8:00am and 1st pitch is 9:00am.
For any kids under 12 years old, we're having a Kick-Off Kids game at 8:30am! The kids play for free (with a parent or guardian present!)
If you have any questions, want registration forms or need more information, just send an email to KickOutCancer2014@gmail.com .
We are asking that you join us on this day to support two really incredible women. If you can’t play, come and cheer us on or just stop by to lend support. We would greatly appreciate it!
