April 30th, 2007 was the scariest day of my life...it's the day that changed everything...
I just wanted to get home...we were going to BBQ because it was a beautiful, sunny day -- and the week before Mother Nature decided to drop TONS of snow on us... Someone else, had different plans though... That someone decided to blow a stop sign, causing me to hit him head on. That split second decision on his part, has changed my world entirely.
The accident left me with something called "RSD" -- which is basically three little letters that stand for excrutiating pain. My nerves misfire and send pain signals to my brain continuously... And not paper cut type pain -- the kind of pain that, according to the pain scale, is more painful than childbirth and amputation of a limb.
I can't wear sneakers...or socks... Running is usually next to impossible. My foot will turn a really funky purple color, just because. I can't touch any part of my foot. I can't wiggle my toes. And now...my RSD has decided to move into my arm as well...
But, I have to say...I wouldn't change any of it... My friends and family have been there for me over the last five years -- and I've learned a lot about myself through this whole ordeal. I know that no matter what the universe sends my way...I'll get through it...and I'll have a pretty kick ass group of people around me for support. <3
If you could donate -- even $5 -- it will make a difference.
Very little is known about RSD (or CRPS as it is also called). Learning more about it is the ONLY way we can make a difference...
All my love...
