Kick Up Your Boots for Foster Kids

Organized by: Stacy Jethroe

As a former kid living that foster kid lifestyle, I understand what it feels like to bounce from place to place, wondering about a forever home. Most foster children age out of the system without ever experiencing the warmth and safety of a place to call their own, with emotional and behavioral issues informing their lives for many years. Organizations like National Foster Care Coalition help ensure something better...

From the NFCC website:

"The mission of NFCC is to build momentum for change by harnessing a collective voice and enabling collaborative action to promote the well-being of children, youth and families impacted by the child welfare system.

NFCC envisions a nation in which: All children and youth have safe, stable and permanent homes, and the skills, confidence, purpose, and enduring relationships needed to succeed; All families have the strengths, supports, and resiliency to master life’s challenges; All communities recognize and fulfill their duties to facilitate the development of strong families healthy communities; and All policymakers demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of children, youth, and families, and embrace this as part of the national agenda."

Last week I received a beautiful pair of women's western style boots. Size 10. Never worn. Purchased in Nashville. Original price, $340. My love for boots runs deep, but my love for foster kids runs deeper. I've decided not to keep these boots for personal reasons and figure, rather than sell 'em, why not raise a little coin and awareness for a great organization like NFCC.

For the next 10 days, I will be hosting a donation style raffle here on Crowdrise. Donate as little as $5 for one entry, $25 gets two, and anything above $50 gets three. At the end of the campaign, I will put every donor's name into a literal hat (yes, a literal hat), draw a winner and some lucky gal will win both a pair of fabulous boots AND the knowledge that her money is going to a phenomenal cause. I will post confirmation of our collective donation at campaign's end.

Ladies, not a size 10? Fellas, don't wear women's shoes? You can still share in the donation love. Just make a note to opt out of the actual drawing when you donate.

Share this campaign with any big feeted women who love boots, and anyone who loves kids! NFCC and the children they support thank you.
