One World. One Love. One Humanity.
Donate to the Refugee Youth Summer Academy and help NJ children from around the world develop a sense of safety and belonging while learning our language and culture.
Be a part of the avalanche of compassionate resistance in support of kids who aren't as lucky as ours. You can help. I hope you will. Thank you.
The IRC will operate its second annual Refugee Youth Summer Academy at Kean University’s Human Rights Institute in New Jersey for 3 weeks this summer (August 2017). This privately funded initiative engages 70 school-aged refugee youth to promote English language learning, self-confidence and healing in a fun, structured and supportive environment. Children from over 15 countries have relocated to New Jersey in search of safety from violence and oppression in their home countries. Many of these children have had poor, limited or no schooling as a result of war and displacement prior to arriving in the U.S. The obstacles these children face – linguistic, academic, social, emotional, and economic – are complex. A positive transition to school, social, and family life and ongoing support are essential for newly-arrived children and youth in the wake of crisis to continue on the path to high school graduation, post-secondary education, and engaged citizenship. YOU CAN HELP.
