BENEFITING: RWANDA SUSTAINABLE FAMILIES
We discovered that many of the young B'twa village children of Gisenyi don't eat every day. The B'twa history is like that of the US Native Americans. Once they thrived as hunter-gatherers of the forest but now they are forced to live in villages where they are viewed as inferior by many. The children avoid going to school due to hunger. Really. They are so tired from lack of fuel that they just hang out. By the age of four, they have developed learned helplessness. They can't see the point of trying if their parents have not succeeded. We need your help to really change this. We are feeding over 127children daily and started a preschool for the 4-6 year olds. We teach them that they are loved, that they can succeed and that they are important to the world. But these costs add up!
