About Us: Established in 1989, KidsFirst is the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Placer County, operating two Counseling and Family Resource Centers in Roseville and Auburn. Our mission is to treat and prevent child abuse and neglect through education, advocacy and counseling to empower and strengthen children and families. Our vision is that all children live in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment.

What We Do: We provide a single point of entry for counseling and information and referrals to an array of family support programs and services.  We provide no-cost, friendly, accessible community hubs so families have a lasting network of wellness and support.  We foster support among families and strengthen parent/child interaction.  We respond to crises, link families to services, opportunities, and provide tools which enhance social and emotional development creating a strong, vibrant community.

Who We Serve: KidsFirst services are available to all children and families. KidsFirst targets low-income families and those who could not otherwise access service, including Latino, Spanish mono or bi-lingual.  We provide an array of family support programs dedicated to prevention, early intervention, and the healing of child abuse to children, teens and families in Placer County. Through community-based, corporate and government investments, we are able to impact many lives. Last year nearly 5,400 individuals – 2,800 children, 2,600 adults, and 2,300 -families benefited from our programs and services.

Programs and Services: We offer no cost, innovative programs proven to strengthen children and families to keep children safe from harm. KidsFirst services include child and family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, postpartum depression therapy, youth leadership enrichment activities , peer-to-peer mentoring, support groups, parenting classes, in-home parent education, health insurance and CalFresh enrollment assistance and access referrals for transportation, housing and other services. Community workshops, parent leadership training, referrals and resources are provided in a case managed model.

The programs and services we offer enhance family functions, improve health/well-being, and stabilize home environments. We Educate, Advocate and Change Lives of children and families, decreasing the risks of child maltreatment, helping them to be healthy and contribute to the communities in which they live. National studies indicate that treatment costs 100 times more than prevention and it occurs after harm is done to the child. The average national cost to provide direct and indirect services for child maltreatment is $210,012. Our focus is on prevention and early intervention. Our programs and services save money in our communities. For additional information about our healing programs and services, or to volunteer, please contact us at 916.774.6802.
