Kids Kamp is an event that is organized for kids of the ages of five to eighteen whose parents are diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for cancer. They at times tend to feel so left alone, and all the house chores are left for them to do. They sometimes feel like they have no one to help and support; they feel shy and are afraid of making new friends as they do not know what reception they may get. They may even try to hide themselves and their parent(s) from what they think is shame or social perception. It is very important to set this kind of event to help motivate the kids and help them feel like life can still be joyful even with the cancer challenge.
Kids Kamp event is organized, inviting kids from all over to attend this event. It is free for all kids, funded by volunteers and steered by volunteers. There also happens to be mentors. They could be former Kids Kampers, or volunteers who would like to inspire the kids. Kids Kamp helps the kids to socialize, meet and make new friends by exchanging phone numbers, Facebook names, and share experiences, to learn from one another and also strengthen one another. Priests and pastors are invited to help strengthen the kids spiritually, to help them understand that God is always by their side and also to help them stay strong in faith always.
Besides that, there are also extracurricular activities and competitions that are organized; such as tug of war, dancing, bonfires, and fun events as storytelling and sharing, kids cook food as a practice or to show their culinary talents. This in turn helps them to realize their talents and strengths and how to apply them in life. It also helps them feel like they are not alone, and that they have people around them who care about them. Through this event too some kids get financial help, as through the interaction with the others, then they can acquire like fees for their school, they can get material assistance such as food, clothing and essential stuff that they need or monetary assistance to get whatever they need.
In conclusion, the Kids Kamp is of great importance. There have been many kids who return as adults to appreciate the event by either giving a donation or volunteering to help empower the kids. From this event, kids get to socialize, get to make new friends, get financial assistance. All of this is funded by volunteers and donors. These donors are ordinary people who go out of their way to make these kids feel normal in a time of uncertainty. Please consider donating to this event. It may help a child in need feel great about themselves once again.
